The Dodgers’ postseason struggles have become an ongoing plotline for a decade now, but the first two games of this series have made that all seem like ancient history. If they can figure out a way to win Game 3, just one little game, this series will for all intents and purposes be over https://portal-credo.info/. Put it this way: Yankee Stadium for Game 4 will be a lot quieter if the Dodgers win this one.
But he found an effective curveball against the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series and finally got his lively fastball back on Monday night. The Dodgers are now one win away from their first championship in four years and their first full-season title since 1988. At the most critical juncture, starting pitching has gone from the Dodgers’ biggest uncertainty to one of their greatest strengths. And their biggest concern, the overall health of first baseman and No. 3 hitter Freddie Freeman, doesn’t seem to be one at all anymore. — Alden Gonzalez

The two-time All-Star improved to 4-4 in 18 career postseason starts, including a 2-0 record with a 0.50 ERA in three World Series outings. He has yielded one run and seven hits with 22 strikeouts over 18 innings in those assignments — Game 3s against Boston (2018), Tampa Bay (2020) and the Yankees.
Tempted to award this to Clarke Schmidt, who pitched poorly, or Jazz Chisholm, who was frosty on an 0-for-4 night and committed an error, but this is truly a collective accomplishment. In Game 2, the Yankees had one hit in the first eight innings. In Game 3, they had four hits in the first eight innings. These ninth-inning Yankees sure can score, but the games have been decided before then with the Yankees lineup disappearing for extended stretches. The Dodgers took a two-run lead before the home team had a turn to bat Monday night. The game felt over almost before it began.

That lead held when Cole calmly retired Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freeman in succession after a leadoff double from NLCS MVP Tommy Edman in the sixth. And again when the Yankees’ bullpen escaped a two-on, one-out jam in the seventh.
To beat the Dodgers, the Yankees need Cole to go out and be the best pitcher in the World Series, and he was terrific in Game 1. He pitched into the seventh inning and he stranded runners at third base in the first and sixth innings. Ultimately, the bullpen and offense let Cole down, but he did his job.

The Dodgers struggled to get anything going against Yankees starter Gerrit Cole, but three of their four hits went for extra bases. In the fifth, Juan Soto’s awkward route in right field turned a would-be double into a triple for Enrique Hernández, who scored on Will Smith’s sacrifice fly.
Three times in Game 1 the Yankees gave away third base with poor defense, and twice it came back to bite them. In the first inning, Freeman’s double became a triple when Verdugo misplayed the ricochet off the sidewall in left field. In the fifth, Juan Soto turned Enrique Hernández’s double into a triple with a poor route in right field. Hernández then scored the game’s first run on Will Smith’s sacrifice fly.
Game 2 world series
“It’s getting in the best position to make a good swing decision but also be in a strong position to get a good swing off,” Boone said. “Everyone’s different in how they do that, and I think he’s working through that a little bit right now.”
Phillips threw 18 pitches in a scoreless sixth inning of a 10-5 NLCS-clinching Game 6 win over the New York Mets. Manager Dave Roberts planned to have Phillips pitch the seventh inning of the bullpen game, but when Phillips complained of arm fatigue, Roberts pivoted and sent Daniel Hudson out for the seventh.
Gary D: “The Dodgers have a top four that you can’t pitch around. And they have a long lineup, too. Their relief staff is deep enough so that if one pitcher isn’t having a good night they can bring in four or five other good pitchers. So if their starters pitch well, as they’ve done so far, it’s really tough to beat them. Maybe one or two games, sure, but four is just not too likely.”
